The budget announcements regarding new funding arrangements for GP visits have been quite confusing and conflicting – leading to many people asking us what this actually means. At a time when as many as forty percent of clinics are running at a loss, and many closing across the country, a cash injection into the sector is vital. Words such as rebates, bulk billing incentives, and “tripling” of the incentive for people seeing their GP has left many people scratching their heads – are GP clinics really going to see more money in this budget, and how will this play out for the patients?
