Dr Laura Chapman is a UK trained General Practitioner with 15 years of clinical experience. She was raised in rural Scotland and graduated from Warwick University in 2004. She gained extensive hospital experience prior to GP specialist training in Brighton, England.
Since moving to Australia in 2009 Laura has worked at the Royal Women’s Hospital for 2 years, before returning to her passion, general practice. Her main area of interest is Woman’s Health. She undertook a Certificate of Women’s Health in 2017, including a clinical component within Sunshine Hospital urogynaecology department. She enjoys facilitating women with contraceptive decisions and also supports women through miscarriage and unplanned pregnancy. She is a trained Implanon and intrauterine device inserter (Copper and Mirena IUD), and a Family Panning Victoria IUD insertion clinical trainer.
Laura provides shared maternity care in collaboration with The Royal Woman’s Hospital. She enjoys supporting families through the various, often challenging stages, from preconception to parenthood and beyond. Laura manages pelvic health issues including pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse (competent in pessary management) and urinary incontinence. Other main areas of interest include preventative health, mental health, and chronic disease management. Laura is approachable to patients of all ages and backgrounds, practices holistically and is motivated to discover patient’s health priorities to support them in reaching their goals.
Laura has two young children and enjoys the outdoors, yoga and netball.
